I just got off the phone with the next two closest KTM dealers (I have 3 within 100 miles of my residence), and they both told me the same thing without being prompted "valve adjustment is required on first service for 390". There are a few things at 9,300 miles that were not on the list for the initial service, but what I would call 'major' service (valve check and change plugs) is at 18,600 miles. I am surprised at the 9,300 mile oil change interval. But it does call for it every year anyway. I think they changed the interval so it was easier to sell. i mean i could tell it at ~ 12k that they might need to since it didnt ride like it did before - once they did it on my 15k on my 390 it felt more responsive/crispier again, but yeah at the 15k service. The 890 Duke has the same engine and published oil change interval. If you bought one to use as a race bike would you still plan to only change the oil every 9000 miles?
